All on 4 Implant Treatment Concept
Clinton Township, MI
At Enhance Family Dental, we believe that everyone deserves to have a full and confident smile. Therefore, we offer you the best dental treatment available, including dental implant solutions like the innovative All On 4 Dental Implant Treatment Concept.
This treatment concept gives you the ability to replace your removable dentures with permanent implanted dentures that look and work like your natural teeth.
What is the All On 4 Treatment Concept?
All-On-4 Treatment Concept allows fully edentulous people the ability to eat, speak, and smile as if they have their natural teeth. This treatment uses an immediately fixed denture device that is supported by four implants on the top arch and four implants on the bottom arch — hence the name of the procedure.
Benefits of All-On-4 Treatment Concept
This technique offers several benefits.
Fewer Dental Implants
You will only require as few as four implants on one arch, as opposed to 12 to 14 teeth in one arch.
No Bone Graft Needed
Rather than been inserted vertically, the rear implants are inserted diagonally at angles of 30 to 45 degrees. This is possible because of the longer length of the implants. It also eliminates the need for jawbone grafting as the slanted implants add stability.
Same Day Teeth
Traditional implant procedures require a treatment that spans over six months and may take even longer to recover, because of the extensive healing process after each step. However, the fixed dentures are placed in your mouth on the same day as the implants, eliminating the need for repeated visits for treatment.
All-On-4 Treatment Procedure
On your first visit to Enhance Family Dental, we will analyze the comprehensive imaging of your mouth to see if you are suited for this procedure. We will also check your bone density to determine where to place the implants.
Once we have determined you are a suitable candidate, we will take impressions of your mouth and send them to a dental lab so that they can fabricate your new dental bridge. When your dentures are ready, you will be scheduled an appointment for surgery.
During the process, you will be heavily sedated so that you experience no discomfort. If you have any remaining teeth in your mouth, they will be extracted and the site cleaned. We will then drill two holes at the front of your arch to hold the front implants. Two holes will be drilled at an angle to the rear of the jaw to support the inclined implants.
Next, we will fit the implants into your mouth, and the incisions will be sewed up. The stitches will dissolve by themselves in a couple of weeks. You will then be fitted with your new permanent dentures on the same day.
All-On-4 Treatment Aftercare
|| You will experience pain, swelling, and some general discomfort after the surgery. However, this can be alleviated with the help of some pain medication. Most people are back on their feet after 3 to 4 days of rest.
||You will have to eat liquid food for the first few months until your gums sufficiently heal. You can eat pudding, applesauce, warm broth, ice cream, smoothies, and purees during this time.
||After a few months, you can start on soft foods like slow-cooked vegetables.
||You will also be advised to not take part in heavy exercises and to avoid smoking.
||You will also brush and floss your dentures just like you would your natural teeth.
After 6 or 9 months, your gums should be completely healed. We will then call you to fit the permanent overdentures that are more durable and can last you a long time.
If you take care of your new teeth carefully, they should last you for more than ten years. You will also need to keep your regular dental appointments for maintenance. To schedule an appointment with us, call us at (586) 666-4950 now.
